The Kemps Creek site is the Sydney BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir and Cultural Precinct. It combines worship, cultural activities, community gathering spaces and visitor attractions in Western Sydney.
The project began with a groundbreaking ceremony in April 2021. BAPS described the Kemps Creek development as a new mandir and community hub, with the project planned in phases. In March 2025, BAPS held an eleven-day Murti-Pratishtha Mahotsav associated with the inauguration of the new 25-acre cultural precinct.
The current precinct includes the Akshar Mandapam, Purushottam Mandapam, a large courtyard, the Tapomurti Shri Nilkanth Varni, a Welcome Centre and other visitor facilities. BAPS's current visitor information also describes a traditional stone Hindu Mandir at the highest point of the site as part of a future Phase 2 development.
The precinct begins with a 49-foot (15-metre) statue of Nilkanth Varni, depicting Bhagwan Swaminarayan during his spiritual journey across India.
This carved building contains the main hall, the Abhishek Mandapam and a shrine for murti darshan. It is also used for weekly congregations.
The second major building serves as a community dining hall and forms part of the cultural precinct.
The courtyard is described by BAPS as a 3,500-square-metre open space with more than 215 hand-carved columns featuring traditional symbolic motifs.
The Welcome Centre includes an exhibition explaining the history and development of BAPS in Australia, which began in 1984 according to BAPS visitor information.
The precinct includes a Hindu vegetarian café and a gift/book shop. BAPS currently lists the café as open Friday through Sunday, 10:00 am–8:00 pm.
BAPS asks visitors to help preserve the peaceful and sacred atmosphere of the precinct.
The official BAPS visitor information states that the precinct is open to all visitors daily throughout the year. You do not need to be a BAPS follower to visit as a guest, but everyone is expected to follow the site's dress and conduct guidelines.
The precinct also hosts activities for different age groups, including satsang assemblies, children's programmes, Gujarati classes and other community activities. Weekly schedules can change, so visitors attending a specific programme should check BAPS Sydney's current schedule.
